Credo Financial have partnered with Outside the Locker Room (OTLR), a not-for-profit organisation which helps raise awareness for mental health in the community.
WHAT IS OTLR?
OTLR works with sporting clubs and organisations to bring awareness, education and outreach programs surrounding critical community issues. The 12-month program partnership with the community brings education and support around mental health, addiction, gambling, inclusion, social media education and bullying. It also provides the community access to the OTLR welfare team, the OTLR app and quick access to support lines, such as LifeLine.
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Throughout the month of June, we will look to raise funds for OTLR, with your help, by cycling 3,128km. The distance we are cycling signifies the number of lives lost in Australia to suicide in 2018. It’s a similar distance as cycling from Melbourne to Brisbane and back. We know cycling to Brisbane and back isn’t the most realistic goal, so, instead we have organised for two stationary bikes to be located at Credo Head Office, where we can cycle the distance together instead.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The idea behind it is to raise money per every km completed. The suggested amount to purchase and donate is $1 per 1km – but you have the option to pay more per 1km if you would like to donate more towards the cause. If you are unable to come in and participate in finishing off the kms with us, but you would still like to be involved, you are also able to donate directly towards the cause.
For every $1000 raised, you are funding the ability for 1 sporting club, school or organisation around Australia to access the OTLR program and further the awareness in the community.
We encourage all participants to share their involvement in the charity event across their social media platforms. Therefore we can raise awareness of this great cause on a much larger scale!

HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?
1. Donate kms and cycle with a ‘sport star’ or ‘personality’
Participate and cycle with a known sport star or personality. The ‘highest bidder’ will have the opportunity to cycle a certain distance with them, as well as sponsoring them to cycle that distance for mental health awareness. Due to rules surrounding how much exercise the sports stars are allowed to do, the bidding price we would recommend to begin with to sponsor or cycle with them is $10 per 1km, as some may not be able to cycle as far a distance as others.
So far we have confirmed:
- Andrew Redmayne, from Sydney FC
- Ben Garuccio, from Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Premiership
- Jason Hoffman, from Newcastle Jets
- Stefan Mauk, from Brisbane Roar
- Melissa Barbieri, the Melbourne City Goalkeeper and former Matildas Captain
More personalities will be announced in the upcoming weeks… stay tuned!
2. Donate kms and cycle
Show your support for mental health awareness by donating and cycling the kms you have purchased yourself, or you can nominate a staff member or friend to complete the kms on your behalf.
3. Donate kms and cycle as a team
As a company, donate and buy kms to show support for mental health, spreading the kms across the entire team to show unity and togetherness. Eg. Purchase 100km and have 5 team members cycle 20km each.
If you are unable to cycle but still would like to donate!
We have set up a ASF site where you are able to show your support also without having to cycle the kms with us. https://asf.org.au/communities/outside-the-locker-room-foundation/credo-financial/
This cause is one that is close to many of our hearts and we would love the opportunity to raise money for such a great cause with you.
